ALIEN PROJECT 1989
The year was approximately 1989.  An aspiring Monster maker decides to create a
small alien to make a short film with.  Other things get in the way and now 18 years
later the project is found, in a box in the garage.

Ok so it's not a Hollywood story but it is true.  While working in my garage
organizing during the workshop building I found a box with the Alien I started oh so
long ago.  Amazingly the foam latex skin was still soft and springy.  Following are
photos of this OLD project.  It was fun working on it and its fun now looking back at
how I approached it then and how i would now if I wanted to do it over.

1989 over the fiberglass
skull.
Left: The original foam
latex skin and a more
recent(fall 2007) slush
latex/poly foam filled skin.

Right: both skins with
the fiberglass underskull.

mechanics inside
the small skull.

I originally
designed this skull
to be able to talk,
wink, blink eyes
move left to right,
had holes for
bladders on the
skull to show
some movement
as well as a hose
in the nose area
to show him
exhale.

Above two shots show the hands and
feet.  Both were sculpted and molded
in foam latex.  The feet were webbed
(don't ask me why I can't remember
LOL)

The legs and arms were made out of
insulation tubing and notched so I
could pull a wire and simulate a
running motion and various
movements.

This was LOW TECH out of pocket
Alien Goodness right there.
