Creating a stop motion character!
February 20th, 2006

Here I intend to document the creation of a stop motion character.  This character
will be built upon an armature created by
Tom Brierton.  As this is the first time I
have ever built
a character using a
professionally made armature
I thought this would be
a good case study.  The
armature is pictured to the
right.  It is machined with
aircraft aluminum and
has ball and socket as well
as swivel hinge joints.
The Armature is
approximately 12" tall and will be designated for a future project.  The current
project, as stated above is based on a character just over 6" tall.  Thus the sets will
be far too small.  I am excited to begin this project and share it with everyone.

Well the armature arrived last week.  What a piece of work!  Tom puts alot of talent into
creating these armatures.  I will be working with the armature a little getting used to the
finerpoints of movement and tension of the joints.  I am excited to begin this process in
and around other projects.

I realize this project seems to have stalled.  I have been working on the Buster animation
that I have had to put this on the back burner.  It will happen and I look forward to
sharing it with everyone.  for now you can see the progress on Busters dreams
here.

I am writing this while on vacation in Florida.  I Recently purchased a 2nd armature
from Tom Brierton and wanted to add a photo.  The newest armature seems much
more robust and strong.
Once I complete the short film of Buster
I will get to work using these great pieces.
I am still thinking of options for
charatcers with the armatures.
Some of the ideas I have had so far were:
American Civil war soldiers,
Trolls under a bridge, or possibly
another Buster made larger with better
facial animations due to bigger size.
Project currently on hold until the Buster project
is completed.  Have to focus on one thing at a time
for now..
