| Ventriloquism and Magic |
A little something about myself and my interest in magic. I cannot remember a time
when I was not fascinated with magic. Most kids are typically exposed to a magician
at a school assembly program or a birthday party. I do not recall being influenced in
that way at all. I recall going to a magic shop with my mother when she was looking
for some clowning items for a birthday party. She wanted one of my brothers to
perhaps do some clowning, well that didn't come to fruition but it instilled a bug in me
that has never gone away. Magic offers so much to so many in as much as it allows
them an escape and to be child-like again with a sense of wonder and awe. The
look on a face when they see something that defies the norms and amazes the
senses is priceless. I do not perform really but do enjoy doing the occasional trick
for people. My main interest is Ventriloquism. I enjoy the reaction from people when
they see the puppet or figure talking to them, and when they are looking at the
puppet during the conversation and not at the ventriloquist. The puppet is a real
person/thing to them at that moment in time. I guess this takes a lot of us back to
our youth and the enjoyment we had watching the Muppets or perhaps Sesame
Street.
